Utah Latinos To Vote On Record Numbers Today

Salt Lake City, UT. – Today, Latinos in Utah and throughout the country will make history by voting on record numbers, it's expected that over 12 million Latinos will vote today nationwide.  Latinos will make the difference in key battleground States and will decide who will be next President of the United States.  President Obama recently told a newspaper "And since this is off the record, I will just be very blunt. Should I win a second term, a big reason I will win a second term is because the Republican nominee and the Republican Party have so alienated the fastest-growing demographic group in the country, the Latino community."

While most Utahns will be voting for Mitt Romney and republican candidates, most (70 percent) of Utah Latinos will be voting democratic. Two races where Latinos will make a difference will be in the 4th Congressional District between Mia Love, republican and Congressman Jim Matheson and the Salt Lake County Mayors office. Recent polls indicate the race to be close and should the election be close tonight, Latinos will decide the winners.

Both candidates Mia Love and Jim Matheson have done zero outreach to the growing Latino community in Salt Lake County. Should Congressman Matheson loose tonight will be because he took the Latino vote for granted.  Mia Love being a daughter of immigrants equally has totally ignored any support from the Latino community. Had both candidates spent "a token" of the millions of dollars spent in getting their names in the Latino media it would have made the difference.

In the Mayoral race for Salt Lake County between Ben McAdams (D) and Mark Crockett (R) the only candidate who has effectively reached out to the Latino community has been Ben McAdams. Mark Crocektt had zero outreach to the Latino community. Ben McAdams, is the only candidate who has met with Latino organizations, soccer parents and has been at all major Latino community events.  This year, for the first time in history Latinos in Salt Lake County will be voting in Spanish.  Latinos in Salt Lake County now comprise of more than 18 percent of the population as one of the reasons why they will be voting in Spanish.
