WHO polio plan aims at global eradication by 2018

The Global Polio Eradication Initiative, backed by the World Health Organization, has a plan to wipe out polio over the next five years, but it requires upfront fundraising of $5.5 billion. Por Patricio Ortega y Luisa García.- Como informamos en la entrega anterior, la estrategia de inversiones de una AFP es, en teoría, un secreto porque, según la SBS, su revelación podría perjudicar los intereses de los aportantes. Es decir, usted, nosotros, todos los que continuamos en el dilema del saldo o sueldo. ¿Cómo? A ver. Según explica el director del Instituto Peruano de Economía (IPE), Miguel Palomino, el problema se hizo manifiesto a finales de los 90 cuando se informaba “exactamente cuál era el portafolio de cada AFP con un atraso de aproximadamente una semana”. (Bridgewater, NJ)-La Coalición Nacional de Oficiales Latinos (NCLO) informó hoy el respaldo de manera oficial al gobernador Chris Christie en su campaña de reelección 2013. La Coalición representa a los oficiales uniformados de la Policía de varios departamentos de todo New Jersey y el nor-este. La noche del lunes,la Junta de la Coalición votó 17-1 para respaldar al gobernador Christie.

"Es un honor anunciar el apoyo de nuestra Coalición al gobernador Christie, por su merecido liderazgo, su disposición en escuchar nuestras preocupaciones, y por poner siempre el mejor interés de New Jersey en primer lugar," dijo el Oficial Antonio Hernández, Presidente de la Coalición creada en 2012. "Nuestra coalición cree en la unidad, la cooperación y la inclusión para un mejor fortalecimiento de nuestras comunidades y darles seguridad a los habitantes que nosotros juramos proteger. Creemos que el gobernador Christie comparte esos valores y estamos muy contentos de ofrecerle nuestro apoyo".

A principios de este año el presidente de NCLO también fue instalado como miembro votante dentro de la Alianza de Liderazgo Latino de New Jersey, que en forma unánime dio su respaldo al gobernador Christie en el mes de febrero, la primera vez en su historia en respaldar a un líder republicano para una alta posición estatal.

"Yo quiero dar las gracias por el apoyo que me otorga formalmente la Coalición y al Oficial Hernández por su liderazgo. Yo creo que este anuncio representa lo que yo puedo escuchar y ver todos los días en el Estado de New Jersey. Los ciudadanos quieren líderes que usen menos la retórica y en su lugar trabajen para resolver los problemas, no importa cuán grande es el desafío, y eso es exactamente lo que mi gobierno está haciendo para que New Jersey pueda avanzar de nuevo", manifestó el gobernador Christie. "Espero con interés la continuación del diálogo y el trabajo positivo que hemos desarrollado con NCLO, ya que será un asociado valioso en los meses y años venideros".

El respaldo al gobernador Christie anunciado por la Coalición, es el segundo que se realiza entre las organizaciones del cumplimiento de la ley, tras el anuncio de la Asociación Benevolente de Policías de la Autoridad Portuaria(PBA) a principios de este año. La Asociación de Jefes de bomberos de New Jersey también anunció su apoyo al gobernador Christie la semana pasada.

(Bridgewater, NJ) –The National Coalition of Latino Officers (NCLO) announced today that is has officially endorsed Governor Chris Christie in his 2013 campaign for reelection. The Coalition represents uniformed police officers in various departments from across New Jersey and the northeast. The board voted by a 17-1 margin to endorse Governor Christie on Monday evening.

"It is an honor to announce our Coalition's support of Governor Christie, which he has earned for his leadership, his willingness to listen to our concerns, and for always putting the best interests of New Jersey first," said Officer Antonio Hernandez, President of the Coalition which was formed in 2012. "Our Coalition believes in unity, cooperation and inclusion to best strengthen our communities and keep them safe for the residents we are sworn to protect. We believe Governor Christie shares those values and we're excited to offer our support."

The NCLO President was also installed earlier this year as a voting Board Member within the Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey, which unanimously endorsed Governor Christie back in February - the first time in its history it backed a Republican for statewide office.

"I want to thank Officer Hernandez for his leadership and the Coalition's formal endorsement today. I think this announcement represents what I hear and see every day across the State of New Jersey. People want leaders who will cut the rhetoric and instead work to solve problems no matter how big the challenge, and that's exactly what my administration is doing to get New Jersey moving again," said Governor Christie. "I look forward to continuing the work and positive dialogue we've developed with the NCLO, as they will be a valued partner in the months and years ahead."

The Coalition's backing is the second law enforcement organization to endorse Governor Christie, following on the Port Authority PBA's announcement earlier this year. The New Jersey Career Fire Chief's Association also announced its endorsement of Governor Christie last week.

Civil society and its environment – Driving sustainable development?

CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation (CIVICUS), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations warmly invite you to attend the presentation of findings from the forthcoming 2013 State of Civil Society Report, followed by a panel discussion on the links between an enabling environment for civil society and the successful implementation and integration of key global development agendas.

The annual CIVICUS State of Civil Society Report assesses the health of citizen participation and civil society around the world. This year’s report, to be published in late April 2013, draws on fresh data and research to explore the different components of the environment within which civil society and citizen action during 2012 took place.

The subsequent panel discussion comes at a critical time for global negotiations on the post- 2015 development framework, the post-Rio+20 Sustainable Development Goals, and the follow-up to the 2011 Busan 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness, and will explore and sharpen the contribution to sustainable development of an enabling environment for civil society.

The event will also be an opportunity to meet and mingle with the CIVICUS Board of Directors, who will be meeting in New York ahead of this event.

The debate will consist of a morning session with statements by the UN Membership and an afternoon session with two consecutive panels on “Justice” and on ‘Reconciliation.”
