UN is lauded for anti-wildlife-trafficking declaration
The United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice has declared that trafficking in wildlife and timber is a criminal activity. "This is a breakthrough resolution in terms of recognizing the serious nature of wildlife crimes, encouraging governments to view this not just as an environmental issue but as a crime akin to human or arms trafficking," says Wendy Elliott of the World Wildlife Fund. Drones to help UN peacekeepers in Africa

RESPETOS GUARDAN RESPETOS

Respetos guardan respetos, dice un viejo adagio popular. Con este dicho nuestros padres nos educaron en valores, para enseñarnos que todas las personas nos merecen el mismo respeto que exigimos para nosotros y que observarlos nos lleva a vivir en paz y armonía en los grupos sociales con los cuales nos toca interactuar. No se puede quebrantar el respeto por otras personas y menos si se trata de representantes de nuestros Poderes de Estado, como ha ocurrido, recientemente, con un congresista del gobierno, quien ofendió, de muy mala manera al Fiscal de la Nación al pedir que se "fumigue" la respetable institución que dirige, como si se tratara de un organismo infectado.

Dice la RAE del verbo "fumigar": 1.�Desinfectar por medio de humo, gas o vapores adecuados. 2.�Combatir por estos medios, o valiéndose de polvos en suspensión, las plagas de insectos y otros organismos nocivos. Nos preguntamos, ¿es así cómo ve el parlamentario a una institución integrada por magistrados dignos y respetables, como lo es también el Poder Judicial? Quienes hemos optado por ejercer esta noble función, ¿podemos ser considerados como insectos a los cuales hay que desinfectar, si se quiere �combatir lo que en él hay de inconducta o de corrupción?

Nadie puede negar la existencia de malas prácticas que enturbian el correcto ejercicio de sus profesionales, sea en el PJ o en el Ministerio Público. Pero de ahí, de tomar estas inconductas individuales, para juzgar a toda la institución en su conjunto, no sólo que es un error, sino que es expresión de mala fe. Como no sería justo ni correcto que cualquier ciudadano considere, por ejemplo, que el Congreso de la República requiere ser fumigado, sólo por la inconducta de algunos de sus congresistas, perfectamente individualizables.
�
No es bueno pues, que la ciudadanía vea que alguno de sus más visibles representantes de la política actual, se pasee por los medios lanzando agravios contra instituciones serias que, como el Parlamento, son pilares esenciales en los cuales se sostiene la democracia. No pueden ser modelos de conducta para las generaciones jóvenes, los políticos que exhiben este tipo de comportamiento. Por suerte, han surgido voces entre las filas de ese Poder del Estado, para pedir una investigación por la Comisión de ética, por las ofensas que profirió en contra el Fiscal de la Nación y la institución que representa. Es pues un buen mensaje, toda vez que los padres de la patria están obligados a mantener un comportamiento adecuado.

No debemos olvidar que el respeto a los magistrados no es solo un imperativo moral, también es una obligación jurídica. El respeto es crucial en las relaciones que tenemos con las otras personas. Lamentablemente el no tenernos consideraciones se ha convertido en una mala costumbre. Los políticos, mejor que nadie, deben de saber que los estados de ánimo no pueden gobernar nuestro quehacer, hay que imponer nuestra mente a los sentimientos que, muchas veces, nos suelen traicionar.Ojala que la diatriba no sea ejemplo a seguir, menos por alguna autoridad cuya obligación es defender a la institución que representa.
