In an interview Gabriel Jaramillo, head of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, explained the reasons behind his conviction that the organization must be overhauled on the verge of its second decade by introducing private sector practices into global health. "The fund is a fantastic idea, one that works and has provided phenomenal resources," he said, adding that, nevertheless, "a common thread in global health is poor management." Over the next five years in Nepal, an autonomous government agency aims to introduce 475,000 improved mud-brick cookstoves to rural communities.
