We didn’t think so. But some Members of Congress are pushing the idea that immigration reform should block some immigrants from ever becoming citizens or make the roadmap to citizenship nearly impossible.
Obama administration officials have said that a roadmap to citizenship is imperative, but Congress and the American people need to hear it from the President himself.
In his inaugural address this week, President Obama outlined his vision for the country. Now it’s time to get specific. In his upcoming State of the Union speech, the President has the opportunity to look Members of Congress in the eye and to lay out a concrete marker on immigration. We need citizenship and the protections, responsibilities and full equality that come with it.
This is the time to set the terms of the debate. Please take action today.
