SEMANA DE ACTIVIDADES EN NEW YORK ... no se lo pierda!!



La semana del Quechua en New York, enorgullece a los inmigrantes peruanos. Felicitamos a New York University por esta iniciativa lo mismo a los profesionales e invitados participantes.
La entrada es libre. Vea el programa que aparece a continuación. El Quechua o Runamisimi, es el idioma de los antiguos peruanos y un gran porcentaje de quechua-hablantes que actualmente viven en territorio peruano y naciones andinas.

Quechua Language, Media and Transnational Linkages
Presenter: Ulla Berg, Fredy Roncalla, Miryam Yataco with Gustavo Solís Fonseca
This event will look at how the Quechua language and recent technologies interact and help maintain transnational relationships. Ulla Berg (presenting in English) is Assistant Professor of Latino and Hispanic Caribbean Studies and Anthropology at Rutgers University. Fredy Roncalla (presenting in Spanish) is crafter, independent writer, and editor of the blog and editorial virtual Hawansuyo. Miryam Yataco (presenting in Spanish) is faculty in the Multilingual and Multicultural Education Program at New York University. Gustavo Solís Fonseca is a Doctor in Linguistics, expert in Amerindian Languages and Director of the Center for Research in Applied Linguistics at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Perú.

El Quechua y las lenguas del Peru: Una Perspectiva Histórica (en español - in spanish)
Presenter: Gustavo Solís Fonseca
Dr. Gustavo Solis Fonseca is Distinguished Professor at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Centro de Investigacion de Linguistica Aplicada (CILA UNMSM). Dr. Solis holds both a Doctorate and Master of Arts in Linguistics, specializing in Amerindian languages. Dr. Solis has been the director of CILA, the Center for Research in Applied Linguistics, at the UNMSM for several years. He has also been the recipient on two occasions of the Medal to the Scientific Merit that is offered by the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos.

Quechua Week
Quechua Dialects Across the Andes: A Language Workshop
Presenter: Avi Tuschman, Freddy Mamani, Odi Gonzales with Bruce Mannheim
This workshop allows attendees first to listen to different dialects of Quechua/Kichwa, and then to practice speaking across dialects. Avi Tuschman (speaker of Ecuadorian Kichwa) is the International Projects Advisor and Senior Writer of the Global Center for Development and Democracy. Freddy Mamani (Bolivian Quechua speaker) is a member of the Permanent Mission of Bolivia to the United Nations. Odi Gonzales (Peruvian Quechua speaker) is a Quechua language instructor at NYU. Bruce Mannheim is a leading linguistic anthropologist and professor of Anthropology at the University of Michigan.

In Kichwa with English subtitles. Llanthupi Munakuy/Loving Each Other in the Shadows(Director: Marcelina Cárdenas) Produced by: CEFREC-CAIB, Bolivia. In Quechua with English subtitles. This event will be moderated by Amalia Córdova, coordinator of the Latin American Program of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian´s Film and Video Center in New York City.

Celebrate Quechua! An evening of Quechua language and culture
Presenter: Odi Gonzales
Join us for a reading of Quechua poetry by writer and teacher Odi Gonzales, Quechua language instructor at NYU. He was also be directing NYU Quechua students in a public performance. This will be followed by a reception which will include a display of ceramics by Ecuadorian artist Manuel Taucar and a Quechua musical performance by Guillermo Guerrero of Tahuantinsuyo, Andrés Jimenez, and Elva Jimenez.
