[RED DEMOCRATICA] CARTA : Peticion dirjida al Gobernador Christie/Delivering petition letters to Gov. Christie [2 Attachments]

Estimados amigos y lideres:

Reciban mi respetuoso saludo. Les estoy adjuntando una carta muy importante dirijida al Gobernador de Nueva Jersey Chris Christie. En ella se le pide que no firme un acuerdo con ICE de la Homeland Security Department (donde esta la oficina que deporta y separa familias) el cual permitiria poner en accion el Programa Comunidades Seguras.

La carta fue elaborada por el Programa de los Derechos de los Inmigrantes de American Friends Service Committee y personalmente considero que esta muy bien elaborada, es coherente con las preocupaciones actuales de los inmigrantes indocumentados y sus miedos; consecuentemente, deberia ser firmada por todos aquellos que quieren evitar la discriminacion y la persecucion de inmigrantes indodumentados en el Estado de Nueva Jersey.

Como Ustedes saben, este programa crearia mas inseguridad, caos y miedo en nuestra poblacion. Principalmente, evitaria que por miedo, un decente inmigrante indocumentado denuncie una fechoria, ya que al denunciar se podria envolver en una investigacion con la policia y esta podria chequear sus huellas y deportarlo inmediatamente al descubrir que nio tiene documentos de identificacion permitidos en los Estados Unidos.

El Programa Comunidades Seguras parece bonito en el nombre, pero la realidad, es que se crearia un banco de huellas digitales de hermanos nacidos en los Estados Unidos de America, convertidos en ciudadanos Americanos, residentes, trabajadores temporales y turistas transeuntes. Esta fuente se obtendria de los datos de los Departamentos de policias locales y el FBI.

En consecuencia, los que no estarian en esos datos se considerarian desconocidos y despues de una breve investigacion serian deportados.

Yo te ruego que firmes esta peticion y la propagues a otros interesados para que la firmen tambien, nuestro gol es presentar alrededor de 5 mil cartas firmadas por residentes del Estado Jardin.

Por favor firmala y enviala a las oficinas de American Friends Service Committee of New Jersey localizada en 89 Market St. 6th fl. Newark, NJ 07102. Si es una cantidad que puede afectar tu bosillo en estampillas por favor llamame al 973-960-0413 y yo la recogere de tu oficina o domicilio. El ultimo dia para recogerlas sera el 30 de Enero.

Dear Friends and Leaders:

Please sign the letter attached. It is a petition to Governor Christie to stop signing the Secure Communities Program which will affect to our undocumented brothers and sisters.

Secure Communities is an initiative of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division of the Department of Homeland Security to obtain fingerprinting information from local police and the FBI.  Although it is promoted as a program that will make our communities safer, the program will instead break up families and communities through deportation. It is well documented that deportations can create severe hardship on families, leading in many cases to less secure and fragmented communities.  In addition to damaging our communities, the program only serves to annihilate trust in law enforcement.  If Secure Communities were implemented in New Jersey, it would encourage racial profiling, create a two-tiered system of justice and lead to automatic deportation for immigrants who have criminal violations. Programs such as Secure Communities, is used as a dragnet to expand deportation and undermine our notions of fairness and justice.
Please stop that Governor Christie sings an Agreement between State of New Jersey and ICE which would be the start of an open discrimination and persecution to our suffered undocumented brothers and sisters.

All signed petition letters to Governor Christie will be delivered in Trenton on Monday January 31st. You can mail the letters to AFSC localized at 89 Market St. 6th fl. Newark, NJ 07102. If the mail could be expensive for you please call me at 973-960-0413 so I will go to piked up them.
