Increasing access among poor and vulnerable women and children to 13 medicines and health supplies is "one of the 'best buys' in global health" in that it would save 6 million lives, said Anthony Lake, head of UNICEF. The cost of $200 million over three years "pales in comparison to the benefits that ... healthy and productive children and mothers would bring to their families, communities and nations," Lake said.
