The United Nations Security Council today authorized a UN peacekeeping force of as many as 10,000 soldiers and 1,800 police to help restore order in the Central African Republic. Pillay: Impunity for conflict sexual violence must end in DR Congo
Democratic Republic of Congo is not doing enough to bring perpetrators of sexual violence in conflict to justice, says United Nations human rights chief Navi Pillay. "I call on the government to prioritize the fight against impunity for crimes of sexual violence, to promptly complete effective and independent investigations, and to prosecute alleged perpetrators, including those suspected of having command responsibility," she says.
