Best post-2015 strategy could be integrating population, development goals
Finding the links between population goals and development goals is one strategy that could integrate the two and help move post-2015 goals forward, say experts. "We need to bring all of the issues to bear when we talk about [population], so that it doesn't get caught up in the old debates and questions," says Kathy Calvin, president and CEO of the United Nations Foundation. "It's about your country's economy [and] your country's environment." Inter Press Service (5/7)

Annan: Economic equality needs to be aim of African governments
African governments need to spread the benefits of economic growth and rein in the plundering of resources, says a report by the Africa Progress Panel. "[I]t is time to ask why so much growth has done so little to lift people out of poverty and why so much of Africa's resource wealth is squandered through corrupt practices and unscrupulous investment activities," says Kofi Annan, chairman of the panel and former United Nations secretary-general. What's the best way to handle the Nigerian schoolgirl abductions?
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan is pledging to find the abducted schoolgirls and combat terrorism in the country, where Islamists killed 125 on Monday.
