Synopsis: Violeta Parra—singer, composer, poet, painter, ethnomusicologist, complex cultural icon—was a woman of intense contradictions and unique genius.  Her groundbreaking revival of Chile's traditional music sparked a Latin American folk music movement, the nueva canción.

Followed by a Q&A with the writer and director, Andres Wood and moderated by Julia Solomonoff.
