Ignacio Rios Navarro, the Mexican consul in Utah, died this morning at a Salt Lake Valley hospital, a consulate representative said.

Rios Navarro, 59, died at St. Mark's Hospital at about 7 a.m. because of "medical complications," according to a spokesman who declined to give further details.

Rios Navarro was appointed consul in Salt Lake City in April, transferring from London.

He was married with three grown children.
