[RED DEMOCRATICA] Coments : Take action to stop child marriage.

 

Hi,

Did you know that right now there are an estimated 60 million child brides worldwide – some as young as 7 years old?

I couldn't believe it when I found out, but it's happening all around the world. Young girls are being forced to marry much older men, and often these girls are pressured to bear children as soon as possible.

Right now, Congress is considering a new bill that would give the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) more power to work with countries around the world to fight child marriage.

I just sent a message to my legislators, urging them to protect girls from child marriage by supporting this critical bill. But we need as many people as possible to write their own letters to make sure it passes. Will you send your letter today?

These girls are facing unimaginable risks to their health, and having their dreams and independence snuffed out before they even reach puberty.

I feel like something MUST be done to stop this horrible practice. And that's why I'm writing you now – please join me in telling Congress to pass this critical bill to end child marriage.
