The United Nations is trying to bring Rwandan and Congolese leaders to the negotiating table in a bid to end the growing humanitarian crisis in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where M23 rebels linked to warlord Bosco Ntaganda reportedly have established a de facto administration. The United Nations refugee agency Tuesday named Hawa Aden Mohamed, co-founder of a Somali education center for women and girls displaced by conflict and drought, this year's winner of the Nansen Refugee Award. African Union forces from Kenya are gearing up for an assault on the Somali city of Kismayo in what observers say would mark a final offensive against al-Shabaab militants.
