Dear Friend, This September, world leaders are meeting at a UN Summit in New York to discuss the global crisis on climate change. The Global Solutions Action Network's (formerly Citizens for Global Solutions) job is to make sure that President Obama shows up with a plan that other leaders and our Congress will support. You can help make this happen. Join the Action Network - Create the world you want. No nation can solve this problem alone! Unless the United States gets serious about leading an effort for all countries to pitch in and work together, we will all suffer the consequences together. President Obama said in his State of the Union address, "the debate is settled. Climate change is a fact." However, Obama and other well-meaning U.S. policy makers continue to talk about U.S. greenhouse gas reduction as if that is all we need to do to solve this looming problem. The bottom line is that the modest reductions that the U.S. and the EU have managed are not making a significant dent in the levels of global greenhouse gas. If a global agreement is not ready to go by the UN's 2015 meeting in Paris, it is likely that we will reach a tipping point and risk going beyond a point of no return - if we have not done so already. It is past time for the U.S. to lead a new, collaborative approach. I invite you to join the Global Solutions Action Network today and continue to help us carry out your agenda in Washington. At a time when our interconnected world more than ever needs clear rules to live by, some senators are pandering to an isolationist Tea Party base. They are hurting our nation, our world, and our future. Will you become part of the Network to stop this? As a member of the Action Network, in addition to participating in cutting edge campaigns, you will receive: -
strategic election information from the Global Solutions Political Action Committee; -
the Global Solutions 2014 Congressional Report Card; -
invitations to special Action Network events; -
a vote for who is on our board of directors; -
access to advocacy trainings and national webinars; -
conference calls with global policy experts; -
and much more. There is not much I can say to a lawmaker that is more powerful than "Our members in your district believe..." And then they hear from you too! In our 2014 Member Preferences Survey, climate change was by far the most important issue, and for a very good reason: it doesn't matter how much the U.S. reduces its greenhouse gases if other nations do not support a global agreement to cut theirs as well. Please join today! There is strength in working together. In Peace, Don Kraus, President and CEO |
