Shaping tomorrow\'s innovators: Leveraging science, technology, innovation and culture for today\'s youth On 27 March, youth convened at the United Nations in New York during the 2013 Youth Forum of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), entitled "Shaping tomorrow\'s innovators: Leveraging science, technology, innovation and culture for today\'s youth." The main objective of the Forum was to provide young people with an online space to have multistakeholder discussions on the role of science, technology, innovation and culture in promoting global sustainable development. The 13th Infopoverty World Conference: Innovation, nation-building and the empowerment of people The 13th Infopoverty World Conference was held at UN Headquarters in New York on 25-26 March. Organized by OCCAM (Observatory for Cultural and Audiovisual Communication), the European Parliament, and the Infopoverty Institute at the University of Oklahoma, the two-day conference focused on ways to reduce poverty and empower people through technological innovations, governance, nation-building and the strengthening of civil society. World Autism Awareness Day 2013 celebrated at UN Headquarters On World Autism Awareness Day, 2 April, two panel discussions took place to celebrate the abilities of people with autism at UN Headquarters in New York. Discussions, followed by musical performances and a film screening, addressed General Assembly resolution 67/82 entitled “Addressing the socioeconomic needs of individuals, families, and societies affected by autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disorders.” These discussions were co-organized by the Permanent Missions of Bangladesh, Bahrain, India, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United States, in collaboration with the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and the Department of Public Information (DPI).
