SALT LAKE CITY -- Latinos are getting ready for a rally at Liberty Park Friday. It's part of a national effort, renewing a call for immigration reform.
It's been three years since the last large rally. On Friday, Latinos will join with people in 30 other cities nationwide calling for comprehensive reforms.
Activist Tony Yapias doesn't expect the same numbers.
"They might surprise us again. We don't know yet. But I think we will see a much smaller group this time. But as the year goes on, I think we will start to see other types of rallies and demonstrations,
Activists are hoping the Obama administration will make good on a pledge to move ahead with immigration reforms.
The event is set for the northwest corner of Liberty Park, 900 South and 500 East, Friday from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
An immigration rally in Salt Lake City in April 2006 drew an estimated 25,000 people.
