[literature-cinema-video games]: What’s a reader like you doing in front of a console like that one?
The New Media landscape invites Literature to face up a new episode of metamorphosis stemming from the Internet Galaxy (cyberculture). An emergent transdisciplinary field called Digital Humanities is gathering a growing number of intellectual energies and concerns. This still vaguely defined but undoubtedly promising area of study is exploring, among many other topics, the borderlands of classical “artistic” narrative discourses (literary and filmic among them) and the digital arts and popular cultural practices at the Web 2.0. At this fascinating crossroads, how can we think of the literary event in terms of its interconnections to cybertextuality, primarily to videogames? What can we learn from the comparative analysis of the manifold transferences taking place between the “traditional” storytelling and the new (¿?) interactive narratives and fictions? What is aesthetically specific to videogames and how are they remediating and being remediated by films and printed media?
