The United Nations high court, in a bid to resolve a long-running territorial dispute between Nicaragua and Colombia, on Monday issued a binding ruling that designated seven islets in the Caribbean Sea as Colombian but gave Nicaragua control of formerly Colombian waters understood to hold oil and gas. While Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega said the ruling was a cause for celebration, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said it was "wrong and contradictory."
