Kim: "Pandemic facility" could fund response to future crises
The World Health Organization, the World Bank, other United Nations agencies and private sector groups are discussing the development of a financial "pandemic facility," similar to an insurance policy, that would help governments prepare economically for future pandemics, says World Bank President Jim Yong Kim. "The greatest benefit would be that market mechanisms would help us to push improvements in our preparedness for epidemics," he adds. BBC (1/27)
