The United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday began its debate on the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals. The 17 proposed goals and 169 targets would apply to all countries. "People have fought very hard for these [17 goals] and they don't want them touched, but we don't want to fall into the trap of being too prescriptive," said Amina Mohammed, a United Nations special adviser for post-2015 planning. Security Council passes resolution on foreign fighters
The United Nations Security Council on Wednesday unanimously passed a binding resolution requiring UN member states to make it a criminal offense for citizens to travel to fight or to recruit for militant groups.
