Ban Ki-moon decries "proliferating" violence in Syria

The violence and human rights violations by Syrian security forces in civilian population centers are only getting worse ahead of the United Nations-brokered cease-fire deadline, said UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. The Security Council on Thursday issued a statement pressing the government to stop shelling residential areas, while Turkey reported an unprecedented influx of thousands of refugees.
