World's rural poor embrace renewable energy

The availability of small-scale renewable energy sources -- such as solar panels and LED lights -- is helping impoverished rural residents in places like Kiptusuri, Kenya, access electricity in developing countries with slow-growing infrastructure. The United Nations estimates that 1.5 billion people around the world are without access to electricity supply and markets for small-scale devices are growing across Africa and Asia.
