Host a Reflection and Action Call-in Event

Join us to achieve fair and humane immigration reform in 2009.
We marched, we voted, and now… we call for action!

Thank you for participating in NCLR's campaign, "Reflection and Action:  National Call-In for Immigration Reform," a nationwide effort through which advocates participate in the political process and urge their congressional members to pass comprehensive immigration reform in 2009. As you know, the end of April marks the end of the first 100 days of the Obama administration. As a community, we must take this opportunity to call President Obama and all of our elected officials and urge them to pass comprehensive immigration reform.

Join advocates all throughout the country in hosting a Call-In Party during the last week of April (April 27–May 1, 2009) and call for immigration reform!

We need to achieve comprehensive immigration reform in 2009.  When President Obama spoke at the 2008 NCLR Annual Conference as a presidential candidate, he vowed to take up immigration reform during his first year in office.  He recently indicated that he intends to make good on his promise to reform our dysfunctional immigration system this year (see article).  We need to keep President Obama and all of our elected officials accountable to the promise to pass immigration reform.  We need 279 votes to pass immigration reform:  218 votes in the House of Representatives, 60 votes in the Senate, and one presidential signature.
218 House Members + 60 Senators + One President =
279 Votes for Immigration Reform
Change begins at the local level. Join advocates throughout the country to help achieve the reform that our country and our community need!  By hosting a Call-In Party, you will bring people together to reflect, by educating one another and sharing experiences, and to act, by calling elected officials in support of just and humane immigration reform this year. This website will give you the basic information you will need to plan and register an event in your own community.  You can make a difference!
