UNDP prioritizes fight against noncommunicable diseases

The United Nations Development Programme will work more closely with the World Health Organization in efforts to prevent and reduce deaths attributed to noncommunicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes. "By placing NCDs permanently on the global development agenda, people's lives, opportunities and future prospects will improve -- thereby advancing sustainable human development overall," said UNDP chief Helen Clark.
