Turner's $1 billion gift keeps on giving

Ted Turner discusses the moment he decided to donate $1 billion to the United Nations and his successful efforts to prod other ultra-rich to be more generous -- ushering in what author Matthew Bishop calls a "modern era of high-profile big public giving." Turner's initial gift has led to $2 billion in contributions through the United Nations Foundation that have helped combat poverty and "shine a greater spotlight on neglected issues," Nick Kristof writes.
