November 12th, 2012 GlobalSolutions.org November Update Our post-election webinar this Wednesday at 3pm is almost full. Sign up now! | The election season has ended but the hard work on international issues is far from over. Here’s what we’ve been up to this month: Post-Election Webinar The polls have closed and President Barack Obama has officially been reelected to serve a second term as the leader of the free world. What does this mean for foreign policy? What global challenges will President Obama face and what will he be able to do about them? We’re hosting a webinar on Wednesday, November 14 at 3:00 pm ET to answer these and other important questions. Our panel of experts includes Heather Hurlburt, the Executive Director of the National Security Network, and Mark Leon Goldberg, the Managing Editor of the UN Dispatch. The panel will be moderated by GlobalSolutions.org CEO, Don Kraus. For more information, and to register for this event, you can click here. The webinar is almost full so register soon. Climate Change We worked hard this election cycle to make climate change a bigger part of the conversation and we got a victory on election night! Barack Obama finally gave global warming the attention it deserved with a powerful mention in his election night acceptance speech, “We want our children to live in an America that isn’t…threatened by the destructive power of a warming planet.” While we would have liked to see a stronger debate between the two candidates on how to best address climate change, President Obama’s mention ensures that the warming of the planet will not go unnoticed for the next four years. There is little doubt that the devastation brought by Hurricane Sandy to the East Coast had a large role in bringing climate change to the forefront of the American public’s minds. CEO Don Kraus explores the link between Hurricane Sandy and climate change in this Huffington Post editorial, “Sandy’s Climate Conversation.” PAC Report With your help, the Global Solutions PAC had an awesome victory on Election Day. 43 out of 59 endorsed House and Senate candidates won their races.
