The United Nations Security Council met Friday with Syrian rebels, who asked the UN to help pressure the Syrian government to attend peace talks that result in the exit of President Bashar Assad from power. "Far more international pressure [is needed] to force the Assad regime to accept a political transition," said Ahmed al-Jarba of the Syrian National Coalition to Security Council members.
