The Bank Information Center is conducting a survey of CSOs and others in EITI Candidate Countries. This survey aims to: 1. gain further information on the nature of civil society participation in EITI and the specific role of the World Bank in supporting local CSOs, and 2. use the information as input to the EITI process and to advocate for policy changes at the World Bank, including the upcoming revisions of the World Bank Disclosure Policy, and the IFC’s Social and Environmental Sustainability Policy and Performance Standards.
The questions are mainly aimed at civil society organizations (CSO) that are involved in the EITI process. However, BIC would like to obtain input from individuals not directly engaged in the EITI process, but who may follow the process and be able to offer an outside point of view.
Please fill out the survey by 21 August and send it in to Heike Mainhardt (hmainhardt@bicusa.

Recently, sessions focusing on civil society participation at the World Bank's May 2009 EITI week, demonstrated that many questions exist surrounding the extent, quality, and funding of civil society participation in the EITI process, and specifically, the role of the World Bank.
To begin answering some of these questions, the Bank Information Center is conducting a survey of CSOs and others in EITI Candidate Countries. This survey aims to: 1. gain further information on the nature of civil society participation in EITI and the specific role of the World Bank in supporting local CSOs, and 2. use the information as input to the EITI process and to advocate for policy changes at the World Bank.
Your input is very important to this process. As such, we are asking that you please fill out the attached survey. Most of the questions require only a yes or no answer, or a short explanation. Please note that individual responses will remain absolutely confidential.

BIC will distribute and post on its website a summary report of the survey results.

Récemment, des séances portant sur la participation de la société civile lors de la semaine de l'ITIE organisée en mai 2009 par la Banque mondiale ont démontré que de nombreuses questions subsistent sur la portée, la qualité et le financement de la participation de la société civile au processus de l'ITIE, et notamment, le rôle de la Banque mondiale.
Pour commencer à répondre à certaines de ces questions, le Bank Information Center mène un sondage auprès des OSC et autres dans des pays candidats à l'ITIE. Ce sondage a pour objectif : 1. d'obtenir un complément d'information sur la nature de la participation de la société civile à l'ITIE et le rôle précis de la Banque mondiale dans le soutien aux OSC locales, et 2. d'utiliser les données recueillies pour enrichir le processus de l'ITIE et réclamer des changements aux politiques de la Banque mondiale.
Votre participation est très importante à ce procès. Pour cela, veuillez remplir le sondage ci-joint. La plupart des questions suivantes demandent une simple réponse par oui ou par non, ou une brève explication. Prière de noter que toutes les réponses sont absolument confidentielles.

Reuniones recientes organizadas por el Banco en mayo de 2009 en el contexto de la "Semana EITI" demostraron que todavía existen muchas preguntas sobre la extensión, calidad y financiamiento de la participación de la sociedad civil en el proceso EITI, y específicamente, el rol del Banco Mundial.
En este contexto y para contestar dichas preguntas, el Centro de Información Bancaria está llevando a cabo la presente encuesta con organizaciones de la sociedad civil (OSC) y otros entidades en países miembros del EITI. El propósito de la encuesta es: 1) generar más información sobre la naturaleza de la participación de la sociedad civil en EITI y el rol especifico del Banco Mundial en apoyar eso; y 2) usar la información generada como un insumo mas en el proceso EITI y en la incidencia política frente al Banco Mundial, buscando cambios en las políticas del Banco.
Por tal razón su cooperación y los insumos que pueda prestar para este proceso son muy importantes. De esta manera, le solicitamos que por favor pueda llenar la encuesta adjunta a este correo. La mayoría de las preguntas solo requiere un si o no, o una explicación breve. Cabe mencionar que las respuestas serán estrictamente confidenciales.
