LATINOS CALL TO ACTION - SUPPORT FOR THE UTAH COMPACT

  

URGENT COMMUNITY MEETING

 

 

WHERE:         Centro Civico Mexicano (155 South 600 West) Salt Lake City

 

WHEN:           SUNDAY, February 20, 2011

 

TIME:             12:00 PM – 6:00 PM

 
SALT LAKE CITY: Several Latino organizations will hold an URGENT community meeting this coming Sunday, February 20, 2011 from Noon to 6:00 pm at Centro Civico Mexicano.  The purpose of meeting will be to update the community in regards to all immigration legislation being passed at the State Capitol and to support The Utah Compact by signing and writing letters and emails to our State Legislators. At the hour, updates will be given and a question and answer session. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.

Today HB-70 passed in the House of Representatives by a 58-15 final vote.  Tony Yapias, Director of Proyecto Latino de Utah said "We make a call to action to all Utahns who support The Utah Compact to sign and call your representatives and let them know that we support the principals outlined" ( www.theutahcompact.com )

This meeting is being sponsored by: Centro Civico Mexicano, Utah Coalition of La Raza (UCLR), SLC Brown Berets, Utah Federation of Mexican Clubs, MECHA, LULAC Utah, Salt Lake Dream Team, Unidos Saldremos Adelante UVU and Proyecto Latino de Utah.
