Ban: Syrian peace talks to be held Jan. 22
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced that the Syrian government and opposition will attend peace talks to be held in Geneva on Jan. 22. "The conflict in Syria has raged for too long. It would be unforgivable not to seize this opportunity to bring an end to the suffering and destruction it has caused," Ban said. UN climate talks reach timetable on emissions planning
Under the agreement reached Saturday at the United Nations climate talks, governments must announce by the first quarter of 2015 detailed plans to curb carbon emissions. "We have seen essential progress. ...
