"Urgent discussions" ongoing over Iran's presence at Syrian peace talks
Iran has accepted an invitation from United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to attend Syrian peace talks slated to begin Wednesday in Switzerland, though Ban said today that "intensive and urgent discussions are underway" regarding the invitation. The Syrian National Coalition says it won't attend the talks unless the UN withdraws Iran's invitation. Separately, President Bashar al-Assad suggested he may seek another term in voting this year.
