We voted for Peacekeeping, Now Let’s Pay our Share

Tell Congress to support our vote to protect civilians in the Central African Republic by paying our UN peacekeeping dues in full and on time.

RAISE YOUR VOICE!

Dear Friend,

Last week, the United States voted to send 12,000 UN peacekeepers to protect civilians in the war-torn Central African Republic (CAR). As you’re reading this, plans are coming together for men and women to gear up for this dangerous mission.

These are the world’s emergency responders – UN peacekeepers – and they need our backing.

When the U.S. and other members of the UN Security Council feel it necessary to send these men and women into a conflict zone, the least we can do is ensure they have the resources necessary to do their job and come home again.

As a U.S. citizen, your share of our UN peacekeeping dues is less than $8 – for all 15 current UN peace operations around the world.

Yet Congress has cut funding for UN peacekeepers by 12% in this year’s budget, including zeroing out funds for desperately needed missions which we are likely to support at the United Nations.

Please raise your global voice and tell Congress to support the men and women in blue.

President Obama’s 2015 budget request includes funding for the Central African Republic mission, but your Representative and Senators need to hear that you support UN peacekeepers, especially on a mission we voted to approve.

Thank you,
