The United Nations Security Council has begun work on a resolution to authorize a UN peacekeeping force for the Central African Republic that could be deployed by Sept. 15. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is seeking sanctions for individuals fostering violence in CAR, and he warned that armed groups won't be tolerated. World Bank to boost financing for middle-income countries
The World Bank will increase over 10 years annual loans for middle-income countries such as Brazil and China from $15 billion to $28 billion. "If we are going to help developing countries end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity, we have to provide them with more financial resources, more solutions-based knowledge, and help leverage more private-sector investment," says Jim Yong Kim, head of the World Bank.
