[RED DEMOCRATICA] NOTAS : Time to Stand Against the Politics of Division and Fear

Dear David:

The attacks against U.S. Supreme Court Justice nominee Judge Sonia Sotomayor continue. Despite the outrage about these attacks expressed by the Latino community and others, there is no evidence that this nonsense will stop anytime soon. Earlier this week Jon Stewart from The Daily Show ridiculed the shenanigans, making clear how absurd this stereotyping and defamation is not only for Hispanics and other communities of color, but for all Americans.

Please join us in asking Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele, House Minority Leader John Boehner, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to denounce this smear campaign and keep the nomination process civil, respectful, and constructive.

The deafening silence of the Republican party's leadership is leaving many Latinos with a disturbing view of the party. There is much at stake here, including the Latino community's votes. Nearly 3,000 of you have signed the letter asking Chairman Steele to gather his fellow RNC leaders and condemn the statements against Sotomayor. If you haven't yet signed the letter, please do so. If you already have signed the letter, please forward this email to your family and friends and encourage them to take a stand.

We are better than this. It is time to stand against the politics of division and fear and work together for a stronger America.
