UN: Thousands of children forced to fight in 2013
More than 4,000 children were child soldiers in 2013, with many civilian children subjected to sexual violence, says the United Nations in its annual report. The UN has documented eight governments and 51 armed groups who recruit child soldiers or commit violence against children. The UN has removed Chad from its list as it no longer uses child soldiers.
