Top of the Agenda: Supreme Leader Speaks Out
Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, backed the results of his country's disputed presidential election and demanded an end to street protests in an address to the Iranian people today. Speaking to a crowd of thousands of people at Tehran University, in his first public statement since last Friday's vote, Khamenei praised the ballot as an "epic moment that became a historic moment." http://m1e.net/
It remains to be seen what effect Khamenei's speech will have on the protestors, who had planned another rally for Saturday. Yesterday's protests, which the National says were attended by hundreds of thousands of people, already came against the orders of Iran's government. http://m1e.net/
