[RED DEMOCRATICA] Colbert on immigration -- watch it!

 

Friend --   Last night, Comedy Central's Steven Colbert accepted the challenge to take the job of an undocumented farm worker. Check it out:     http://AmericasVoiceOnline.org/TakeOurJobs Colbert cracked the audience up, but the United Farm Workers are serious about inviting Americans to head out to the fields to try their hand at grueling farm work in the summer heat. Folks can sign up right at their website, TakeOurJobs.org. Why, you ask? UFW argues that "the campaign spotlights the ongoing need for immigrant labor in the U.S. economy." Think about it: three-quarters of all farm workers in U.S. agriculture were born outside the United States!   Kicking these immigrant workers out to make room for the American-born unemployed might make for an easy talking point for craven politicians, but the reality is that American agriculture would be devastated and our food security jeopardized as production moved overseas.   On a lighter note, you won't want to miss this Colbert clip - he volunteered to be the fourth American to become a farm worker through UFW's program, so hopefully there's a whole lot more funny to come:   http://AmericasVoiceOnline.org/TakeOurJobs Adam Luna America's Voice   P.S.
