CFR IN THE CLASSROOM: WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY'S ROBERT A. STRONG


Robert A. Strong, associate provost and the William Lyne Wilson professor of politics at Washington and Lee University, is including CFR's Academic Conference Call series, as part of an elective independent study in politics. Upon conclusion of the fall series, students will choose a topic discussed in one of the calls and write a paper responding to that call's background readings.

This new book by CFR's Micah Zenko examines the discrete military operations undertaken by the United States over the past twenty years to discern why they were used, if they achieved their objectives, and what determined their success or failure.

In a recent meeting at CFR, U.S. secretary of education Arne Duncan and New York City Department of Education chancellor Joel I. Klein discuss strategies for improving the quality of the U.S. education system in order to make American students more competitive in the global market.
