HAASS Thursday, May 6, 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. (ET) CFR President Richard N. Haass will discuss how to teach the Afghanistan and Iraq wars in the classroom in this special session for educators. --> To access CFR's Academic Module for his book War of Necessity, War of Choice: A Memoir of Two Iraq Wars, click here. CFR IN THE CLASSROOM: UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA'S PATRICK LEBLOND Patrick Leblond of the University of Ottawa's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs features CFR materials as part of the syllabus for his Globalization and Governance course. His students use the Finance component of CFR's interactive Global Governance Monitor to understand international agreements and organizations that govern global finance. Additionally, students are required to consult CFR's Crisis Guide on Climate Change to supplement Dr. Leblond's lecture on the environment as a governance challenge. Dr. Leblond also recently attended CFR's Academic Workshop at the International Studies Association Annual Convention in New Orleans. NEW INTERACTIVE: NUCLEAR ENERGY Nuclear Energy Guide Concerns over climate change and energy security have spurred countries to re-evaluate their energy policies. The nuclear power option has been presented as a solution, but there still exists an array of obstacles to expansion. COUNCIL SPECIAL REPORT: RUSSIAN ECONOMY The Russian Economic Crisis In this new Council Special Report, CFR Adjunct Fellow for Russia Studies Jeffrey Mankoff argues that Russia's need to focus on repairing its economy during the global economic crisis gives the West an opportunity to deepen its economic engagement with Russia. --> Council Special Reports (CSRs) are concise policy briefs that provide timely responses to developing crises or contributions to current policy dilemmas.
