New species of ichthyosaur discovered in museum storage room
A new species of ichthyosaur has been identified from a long-forgotten fossil in Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery in the U.K. For 30 years, the fossil was thought to be a plaster copy until a paleontologist spotted it was the real thing, according to findings published in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology.
