[RED DEMOCRATICA] PERU CRISIS



Estimados co-miembros:
Despues de mi respetuoso saludo, paso a compartirles el mensaje que recibiera de la compatriota Ana Maria Quispe y el cual esta al final de este correo.
Hoy miercoles a las 7:00 pm en la 40 de Broadway Ave. en Passaic, NJ 07055; tendremos una reunion de coordinacion con motivo de informar, a los medios de comunicacion y a los interesados en general, las aciones a seguir para tener una ordenada, pacifica y bien organizada protesta frente al consulado peruano en Paterson el dia jueves 11 de Junio a las 12:00 pm. En esta reunion estara con nosotros Washington Bolivar de la comunidad indigena Kashibo Kakataibo de la region Ucayali.
New Jersey alberga la mayor cantidad de peruanos en Estados Unidos, asi que nuestra manifestacion pacifica sera una de las mas grandes, con el favor de Dios.

UPDATE on the PERU CRISIS: new video proves that ethnic genocide was committed by Peruvian police - VIDEO shows testimonies and other things...

This video is very graphic and please beware. Peruvian journalist Alonso Gamarra and cameraman Richard Garcia from Lima-based Frecuencia Latina TV station, traveled to Bagua where locals -mixed Natives or "mestizos"- tell them stories about how Aguaruna people were killed and burned in the roads by the police, and then thrown to the Maranon river, or put on plastic bags and then thrown from the air.

ALSO These are the videos of the protest held yesterday at the Embassy of Peru in Washington, DC, to demand the government of Peru to stop violence, to respect Indigenous rights and to reopen dialogue with the Amazon communities, after the deadly results of last weekend.

About 60 people showed up to the protest site, holding signs and chanting demands in solidarity with Amazon peoples of Peru. There were about six U.S. Security Service agents who had parked a van with its lights on -something that I think was planned to intimidate folks, especially for those Peruvians who are undocumented immigrants. However the rally went very well, it was good to see young people involved and to hear meaningful speeches, I even spoke briefly. Some local media showed up also and I was interviewed by Univision and FSRN - listen to the audio in the second video/photo slide:
