How Much Time Will We Give Assad to Murder Innocents?

Tell Putin to Stand up
for Syrian People

Russia has blood on its hands in Syria. It continues to supply weapons to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad that he is using to kill his own people. Last Friday the regime brutally killed 108 civilians in Houla, including 49 children under the age of 10. Entire families were slaughtered in their homes, with many shot at close range, mutilated, or found with slit throats. President Putin can influence Assad to stop the violence.

You can make a difference by telling President Putin to stand up for the Syrian people.

Russia is also standing in the way of stronger international action. As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, it can veto stronger action against the Assad regime that could end the violence. It’s already twice vetoed Security Council resolutions aimed at stopping Assad’s impunity.

Secretary of State Hilary Clinton said, “The Russians ‘are telling me they don't want to see a civil war. I have been telling them their policy is going to help contribute to a civil war… We have to bring the Russians on board because the dangers we face are terrible.’”

Russia may believe that their interests are best served by backing Assad, but history never favors the tyrants and the oppressors. Protecting their trading partner now will only haunt them when the Assad regime falls, as it is doomed eventually to do.

Join us in urging the Russian government to stand on the right side of history, to stand with the protestors.

Take action now to tell President Putin and the diplomats here at the Russian Embassy that Syrian blood is on their hands, unless they change their mind to stand with the rest of the international community. Tell Putin in your own words why you want Russia to stand up for innocent Syrian civilians.

Time is running out. Every day, conflict in Syria escalates as a full-scale civil war approaches. Act now to put pressure on international actors before another innocent child has to die.
