Evidentemente, la Juez Bolton, entendio que los policias de Arizona -como los de cualquier parte de nuestro pais- no tenian la preparacion suficiente para discriminar quien podia ser sospechoso de estar ilegalmente en nuestro pais y se podian cometer abusos irreversibles. Evidently, Judge Bolton, understood that Arizonian police - like those in any other part of our county - doesn't have sufficient preparation to discriminate those who look suspicious of being illegal in our county and that this could cause irreversible harm. Asimismo, no ha permitido que la policia detenga a las personas que estuvieran esperando la oportunidad de trabajar, como lo hacen mis hermanos jornaleros. Therefore, it is not allowed that the police can detain any person that is waiting for an opportunity to work, like my daylabors (Jornaleros) brothers. En este punto, quiero resaltar la valiente accion de demandar, al Estado de Arizona, que organizaciones defensoras de los derechos civiles, (como CONLAMIC), realizaron junto con el Departamento de Justicia (El cual lo hiciera como respuesta a nuestra presion y no por conviccion). De cualquier manera, gracias a todos ellos se ha impedido que esta ley pase completamente. I would like to highlight the courageous actions of lawsuits towards the State of Arizona from organizations that defend civil rights (such as CONLAMIC), together with the Department of Justice (The one that took a stand as a response to our pressure and not conviction). Anyways, thanks to all of them that have prevented that this law would pass completely. Los casi 400,000 inmigrantes que viven en Arizona, pueden estar seguros que seguiremos apoyandolos desde cualquier rincon de los Estados Unidos como lo hicimos el 29 de Julio en el puente Brooklyn de Nueva York; asi como en las ciudades de Elizabeth y Paterson en Nueva Jersey. Almost 400,000 immigrants that live in Arizona can feel secure that we will continue to support them from any place in the United States, as we did on July 29th on Brooklyn Bridge in New York and as we did in the cities of Elizabeth and Paterson in New Jersey. En Paterson, nos reunimos casi cien personas para pedir un alto total a la ley SB1070 de Arizona; y recordarles a nuestros congresistas -en Nueva Jersey- que nos continuaremos organizando y nos mantendremos alertas para impedir que algun politico histrionico, se le ocurra introducir una ley similar en el Estado Jardin. Last month, the newspaper called PATERSON PULSE (that openly supported the law SB1070) criticized a resolution of the city of Paterson condemning SB1070 which was introduced by the young councilman of the Fifth Ward Julio Tavarez. These types of articles, obligates me not to be dispirited in my effort to continue with the marches and vigils in this city (soon I will inform you about our next step).
