Administración Christie activa línea directa con voluntarios que puedan responder y llevar ayuda en sus vecindarios

Trenton, NJ – Los habitantes de New Jersey pueden prepararse como voluntarios para ayudar a sus propios vecinos a recuperarse de los daños causados por el huracán Sandy en sus comunidades. Dependiendo de la severidad de la tormenta que se avecina, los voluntarios pueden ser necesarios para ayudar con una variedad de actividades de limpieza.
"Cuando se produjo el Huracán Irene, vi muy de cerca cómo los vecinos en forma individual trabajaron desinteresadamente para ayudar a otros durante una crisis", dijo la vicegobernadora Kim Guadagno.
"Basándonos en lo que hemos aprendido, tenemos ahora la línea de ayuda de emergencia mediante la participación de los voluntarios o voluntarias para mejorar nuestra capacidad de respuesta en situaciones de emergencia y trabajar mucho mejor en forma organizada y con la ayuda de voluntarios".
"Hoy estamos activando la línea directa en nuestro estado y estamos preparando a los voluntarios para que puedan llevar la ayuda necesaria en forma directa", explicó la vicegobernadora.
Si usted está interesado en ser voluntario y el equipo de trabajo del Estado puede llamar al numero 1-800-JERSEY-7 (1-800-537-7397). Esta línea fue
establecida a principios de este año para mejorar la capacidad de respuesta del estado de emergencia por el enorme espíritu de servicio en New Jersey.
Si las condiciones de tormenta impiden que usted pueda comunicarse a la línea directa, pueden llamar a uno de los dos números de emergencia y seguridad: 609-775-5236 o 908-303-0471. Los voluntarios también pueden enviar un correo electrónico a rowena.madden sos.state.nj.us @.
Si usted ya es un voluntario o voluntaria capacitada afiliado a una respuesta a una organización de emergencia por favor póngase en contacto con esa agencia para registrar su disposición a recibir una asignación.
Esta línea directa es administrada por el Centro de Acción Empresarial de New Jersey y la Oficina del Gobernador para el Voluntariado. Ambas divisiones se encuentran en el Departamento de Estado de New Jersey.
Las llamadas realizadas a la línea directa serán recibidas por el Centro de Acción Empresarial, que trabajará con la Oficina de Voluntariado y AmeriCorps NJ para dirigir a los voluntarios donde se necesita ayuda. Trenton, NJ – New Jersey residents can help their neighbors recover from storm damage Hurricane Sandy may cause by volunteering in their communities. Depending on the severity of the approaching storm, volunteers may be needed to help with a variety of clean-up activities.
"During Hurricane Irene, I saw firsthand how individual New Jerseyans worked selflessly to help others during a crisis," said Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno. "Based on what we learned, we established this volunteer emergency response hotline to enhance our responsiveness during emergencies and better organize volunteers. Today we're activating the hotline so that our state is prepared to direct volunteers where help may be needed."
If you are interested in volunteering, call the state's volunteer emergency response hotline at 1-800-JERSEY-7 (1-800-537-7397). This hotline was established earlier this year to enhance the state's emergency responsiveness by harnessing New Jerseyans' strong spirit of service.
If storm conditions preclude the hotline from being answered by live operators, volunteers may call one of two backup hotline numbers: 609-775-5236 or 908-303-0471. Volunteers may also send an email to rowena.madden@sos.state.nj.us.
If you are already a trained volunteer affiliated with an emergency response organization, please contact that agency to register your readiness to receive an assignment.
This hotline is managed by the New Jersey Business Action Center and the Governor's Office of Volunteerism. Both divisions are within the New Jersey Department of State.
Calls placed to the hotline will be received by the Business Action Center, which will work with the Office of Volunteerism and NJ AmeriCorps to match and direct volunteers where help is needed. When live operators are not available, callers can leave a voicemail message that includes their place of residence, availability and skills.
