Ban: Aid deliveries are still not able to reach the needy in Syria
The Syrian government and rebel forces continue to stymie aid deliveries to some 9.3 million needy civilians in violation of a United Nations Security Council resolution, says UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in a report. "Syria is now the biggest humanitarian and peace and security crisis facing the world. The United Nations does not have the option of walking away from Syria," Ban says. The Security Council is expected to discuss the report Friday and consider how to address noncompliance with the resolution, envoys say.
